About the PTA
The main role of the PTA is to build strong working relationships among parents, teachers and schools, in support of our students. This includes recruiting volunteers, managing after school programs, coordinating engaging activities for our school community, planning teacher appreciation activities and much more.
The PTA raises a significant portion of the school’s discretionary money that goes to support critical initiatives that would otherwise go unfunded. The PTA is also a powerful voice and relevant resource for families and our community.
Our goal for the 2018/2019 is to raise $30,000 primarily to bring two additional mobile computer labs to the school that will allow each grade to have double the access. Through the help of the PTA these labs will be fully payed for based solely on PTA donations. We need your help to make this goal a reality!
PTA Sponsored Programs
GRACE Art is the signature art education program of the Greater Reston Arts Center. Established in 1976 to supplement and support students’ art experience in the schools, today the program serves over 20,000 students in 40 public and private elementary schools in the region.
Older students at Fox Mill Elementary serve as members of the Safety Patrol, which helps ensure that all students arrive and depart the school safely.

Virginia Reader’s Choice
The annual Virginia Readers’ Choice program, created in 1981 by the Virginia State Reading Association, is a statewide program available to students in grades K-12. The goals of VRC are to encourage young readers to become acquainted with books with outstanding literary appeal, to broaden students’ awareness of literature, to encourage reading aloud in classrooms, and to honor favorite books and their authors.
Parent volunteers assemble a yearbook each year for the students. They also gather candid pictures during the school year and coordinate club photos with a professional photographer from the yearbook publisher.
Take a day out of your usual schedule and spend the whole thing at Fox Mill. We get you involved in as many parts of a typical school day as possible: you’re helping in your kid’s classroom (and PE, art, library, etc.), you’re distributing massive quantities of high-fives in the halls, and you’re pushing swings on the playground. All the while, the kids are treating you like a rock star simply for showing up.
