As we prepare for the Fox Mill Elementary School Matsuri Festival on Friday, May 16th from 6:00 to 8:30 PM, we are inviting volunteers to sign up and help us make this event a success.

This year, we are implementing a new priority access system for wristband sales to ensure that as many FMES families as possible have the chance to enjoy Matsuri.  Wristbands sold out quickly last year, so we want to make sure you don’t miss out! Please read on for more information!

The deadline to enter your designs for the Matsuri T-shirt contest has been extended to Wednesday, March 12th, at 7:00 p.m. Please read on to see entry details in the attached flyer, and email or submit your designs to the office by Wednesday.

The JCC is excited to open the contest for our 2025 Year of the Snake Matsuri T-shirt. All FMES students are invited to enter; original designs only (computer designs are fine, but no AI and no copying someone else's work). Please read on to see the flyer for additional requirements and for information on how to submit your entry. All entries are due by March 7th.

As you know, the JCC hosts Japanese Art Week every year to celebrate and share Japanese stories with the entire school.  We've been working hard to collaborate with Mrs. Welles to put on this fun project, but we are still in need of some additional volunteers to make sure that each class of students gets to have a rich experience. This includes ALL classes, not just the JI classes! Please read on for more information and consider signing up to help in your child’s class. Thank you!

Please join us for the next JCC Monthly Meeting in Room D125 on October 10th from 9:00A M to 10:00 AM. During this meeting, we will be recapping the activities held in September, and discussing the upcoming event, Onigiri Action, in October. We will also introduce the various committee activities and the members who have joined so far. If you're interested, we’d love for more people to get involved in our different activity committees. We invite and welcome all parents to our Japanese Cultural Committee (JCC) meetings, held the 2nd Thursday of each month from 9:00 am - 10:00 am in our school cafeteria.  We look forward to getting back to our regularly scheduled meetings so we can work together to plan some of our favorite Japanese cultural events like Japanese Art Week and the Matsuri festival for our students and their families.  We have a variety of ways you can volunteer to help plan and facilitate these special events.  If you're not able to attend the JCC meeting in person, please be on the lookout for future emails with updates and volunteer opportunities. The Japanese Cultural Committee is overwhelmed with the outpouring of interest and support for our upcoming Matsuri Children's Festival event on May 10th.  Due to an overwhelming response, the 300 child wristbands have been sold out through Givebacks.  Unfortunately, due to building capacity, no additional wristbands will be sold at the door.  Thank you for your understanding as we manage safety and fun!

2024 Matsuri will be held on Friday, May 10th at Fox Mill ES. Wristbands for children are required for admission ($5 pre-order, $10 at the door) The quantity of wristbands is limited; please order one before it sells out! Adult supervision is required, but there is no cost for adults to enter the event. Meals from Mari Sushi is available via pre-order only. Please read on to view the flyers for more details and to place your orders. The deadline to order food and wristbands is this Thursday, May 2nd. 

The Japanese Cultural Committee needs volunteers and bakers in Fox Mill ES! We will have a Bake Sale at 2024 Matsuri this Friday, May 10.
